Sync the Android and Windows clipboard over local Wi-Fi

By Osvald Studio

If you keep sending yourself links in chat, a shared clipboard gives those snippets a direct route between your phone and computer. ClipSync connects Android and Windows over your local Wi-Fi. Clipboard content stays between your devices rather than passing through a cloud relay.

Before you start

You need an Android phone, a Windows computer and a local network both devices can join. Download both clients from the ClipSync download page on osvald-studio.com. ClipSync is distributed directly, including the Android APK; it is not on Google Play. This guide does not assume a particular Android or Windows version: check the installation notes for the current build.

Pair the devices and try a text clip

  1. Install ClipSync on both devices using the download page and its platform-specific installation notes. On Android, follow the system prompts for installing the APK. Only use a download source you trust.
  2. Connect the phone and computer to the same local Wi-Fi network. Open ClipSync on both. A guest network may isolate clients even when the Wi-Fi name looks the same.
  3. Use ClipSync’s pairing flow. Compare the six-digit pairing code shown on both screens before accepting. Accept only a device you recognize.
  4. Copy a short, non-sensitive line of text on the phone and paste it on the computer. Then test the reverse direction. If Android restricts background access, keep ClipSync open while testing and check the app’s permission prompts.

If discovery or sharing does not work

Check the network first: guest isolation, a VPN or a firewall can prevent devices from finding each other. On Windows, allow ClipSync on the private network you trust. Reopen both clients and retry the harmless text test. Do not disable your firewall globally. If it still fails, send support the platform and app versions and what happened; do not send clipboard secrets or your license key.

Local sharing and license refresh are separate

Local sharing does not need a cloud relay, but license activation and renewal require an internet connection. Keep the offline lease in mind before travel. Windows and Android each have their own device slot; adding a second device on the same platform is a replacement, not an extra slot. The current license and replacement limits are below.

ClipSync license and downloads

$19 one-time. One active device per platform: Android, Windows, macOS, Linux.

Replace a device with your license key or an email code. Maximum 2 replacements per platform in 30 days.

Local Wi-Fi sharing, with no cloud relay. Devices need to be on the same local network. The offline license lease lasts 7 days; connect to the internet to refresh it.
